Sharelatex/Overleaf. The easy to use, online, collaborative LaTeX editor. I recommend that you use it. However if you prefer installing LaTeX on your computer, you may choose one of the following (depending on your OS):
- For Windows: MiKTeX (TeX/LaTeX Distribution) + TeXnicCenter (IDE) (both are available for free)
- For Mac: TeX Live (Tex/LaTeX Distribution) + TeXShop (IDE) = MacTeX (available for free)
- For Linux: TeX/LaTeX Distribution is usually included in all Linux Distributions. One of many user-friendly IDEs is Kile
Bibliography (BibTex) reference manager: JabRef (available for free: Windows/Linux/Mac)
Drawing tools for LaTeX: LaTexDraw (available for free: Windows/Linux/Mac). You can't live without this software.
Tired of typing your BibTex or LaTex bibliography ? Search, copy, paste reference from MathSciNet. Note that you have to connect through the university network.
