This course is the centerpiece of UMassDartmouth's Professional Preparation Program for
Math, Science, and Engineering students. Graduate and undergraduate students registered for
this course are working together to study and solve problems provided by companies, local
research groups, and local non-profit organizations.
Justin McKennon is a Principal Scientist I at Electro Magnetic
Applications, Inc. (EMA) and an industry-recognized leader in
electromagnetic effects and space radiation. Prior to joining EMA, he
served as Chief Engineer at NTS Lightning Technologies. Justin obtained
his bachelor's and master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from the
University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He holds a Full Authority FAA DER
license in all HIRF, lightning, and EMI/EMC disciplines and has played
critical roles in certification efforts on dozens of commercial and
military programs. He also leads the establishment of EMA's Space
Environment and Radiation Effects (SERE) facility. McKennon is one of
the NSF-funded CSUMS RESCUE (Research in Scientific Computing and
Undergraduate Education) program alums run by the Department of
Mathematics from 2009 until 2013.
This is a free and open discussion event about career path talk for
students hosted by the Center for Scientific Computing and Data Science
Research (CSCDR), UMassD SIAM Student Chapter, and Mathematical and
Computational Consulting (MC2) course. Snacks and drinks will be
